Adults Calligraphy Class​
DATE: Every other Tuesdays (Also available on Mondays and Thursdays upon requests)
TIME: 10:30〜12pm
PLACE: Lingfield
PRICE: £20 per lesson
Students start learning how to hold a brush and basic strokes first, then practice mainly Kanji characters in Kaisho (Block script) using a big brush. After Kaisho style, they move onto Gyosho (Semi-cursive script) then Sosho (Cursive script).
The environment is very quiet and calming. You will be easily able to focus on writing and practising. Shodo (Calligraphy) is a very good way of relaxing, concentrating and mindfulness. Some people use it as meditation.
As writing over and over can be intense, I set a tea break time in between, so that you'll be able to rest for a while and enjoy a chat with others.
I try to make this class not only for you to be able to write Japanese beautifully, but also to feel Japanese tradition/culture, and relaxed and refreshed.
Private Lesson

Kids Calligraphy Class
DATE: Every other Saturdays
TIME: 3:00〜3:45pm
PLACE: Lingfield
PRICE: £10 per lesson
Students start learning how to hold a brush and the specific posture first, then practice writing fundamental strokes and lines. After that we move onto practising Hiragana and Kanji characters using a big brush, followed by their name with a small brush.
Through Shodo (Calligraphy), students learn not only how to write Japanese characters, but also their concentration and ability to focus will improve.
This is also a great opportunities to feel the Japanese culture and tradition.
